Marrakech comes alive at the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair each year when its many bars and restaurants are buzzing with glamorous international visitors. Art dealers and enthusiasts pound the streets moving from gallery to gallery with the luxurious 5-star La Mamounia and DaDa space as the anchors for the whole event.
On the gallery walls expect to see a curation of contemporary art from both emerging and established artists, and the gathering of 27 exhibitors, including 14 galleries from the African continent.

1-54 is the leading global art fair committed to highlighting contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. The event was founded back in 2013 by Touria El Glaoui and has three editions each year – in London, New York and Marrakech.
To this day 1-54 is the first and only international fair dedicated to contemporary African art, and we think the Marrakech edition (being the only one on the African continent) is the best version to attend. While here you’ll view incredible contemporary African art from leading international galleries plus attend artists talks, panel discussions, and other art events.
As for the name? It references Africa’s 54 countries.
